Junior Field Technician - Vending Machines

About the role

A growing technical services company is looking for a Junior Field Technician in Durban to install, service, maintain and repair vending machines, water coolers and hot beverage equipment. The role needs hands-on mechanical and electronic skills, strong problem-solving ability and the willingness to do manual labour and travel extensively.

Key responsibilities

• Transport, move and install large vending and beverage machines.
• Operate and maintain a company service vehicle.
• Perform all work safely and according to company procedures.
• Use lifting/moving equipment and power tools.
• Train machine operators and customers when required.
• Carry out electronic repairs down to component level, including reading schematics, using a multimeter, soldering and basic software programming.
• Perform electrical repairs and fault-finding on motors, solenoids and power supplies.
• Maintain service records, reports and spare parts inventory.
• Keep the service vehicle clean and inspected regularly, and wear the company-approved uniform on duty.

Required profile

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical qualification in Electronics, Electrical or Electromechanical fields (minimum NQF Level 2).
• Valid driver's licence.
• Experience repairing or maintaining vending machines is advantageous.
• Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks; extensive travel required.

Required skills

• Strong electronic and mechanical repair skills.
• Basic plumbing knowledge and experience with domestic appliances.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

What we offer

• Salary of R10 000 to R12 500.
