Junior Commodity Coordinator

About the role

SGS, a global inspection, verification, testing and certification company, is hiring a Junior Commodity Coordinator in Sandton. The role provides administrative support to the Commodity Coordinator, Inspectors and customers, while ensuring adherence to Standard Operating Procedures, the Code of Ethics and service delivery standards.

Key responsibilities

• Liaise with and assist the Commodity Coordinator, and perform any other reasonable tasks assigned by the direct line manager.
• Handle customer liaison by telephone or email and ensure messages reach the right people.
• Assist with sample registration and maintain the hard copy Sample Register.
• Handle and distribute samples and results promptly, and attend to work in progress at sample reception.
• Type test reports, email results to customers and file job and test reports manually and electronically.
• Follow quality and safety requirements of the SGS management system, wear protective clothing, keep the workplace tidy and report deviations.
• Stay compliant with SGS QOH&S and HR policies, respect authority limits, and raise safety and quality issues with upper management.

Required profile

• Matric as minimum qualification; tertiary degree in Logistics, Metallurgical/Chemical Engineering or Analytical Chemistry.
• 2 years of administrative experience.
• Knowledge of process flow in an analytical laboratory, or experience in commodity inspection such as sampling, testing, data tallying and reporting.
• Attention to detail, ability to work under minimum supervision and under pressure, and good interpersonal skills.

Required skills

• Computer literacy in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
• Ability to follow HSE procedures and quality system requirements.
