IT Support Specialist (Senior)

About the role

A client of Parvana, which manages a large network of highly automated printing plants, is hiring a Senior IT Support Specialist based in Cape Town. The role covers network operations and the business unit, including monitoring and maintaining services, and is office based.

Key responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive support for network operations and the business unit, including monitoring and maintaining services.
• Monitor server and data backup processes, and configure network devices as directed.
• Oversee device management systems, including software distribution, updates, patching, antivirus protection and imaging.
• Analyse log files to identify and correct errors, and help with network account creation and troubleshooting.
• Develop and maintain scripts to automate repetitive tasks and data transfers.
• Ensure service tickets are resolved or escalated promptly and that scheduled technical tasks are completed on time.
• Maintain technical specifications and infrastructure requirements for work processes.
• Support the department's mission and values, take part in professional development, and travel between sites or carry out other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• MCSE or equivalent qualification.
• 5 to 8 years of experience in LAN/WAN environments and in Microsoft Server environments.
• Ability to document technical work, keep efficient schedules, handle multiple assignments and work independently.
• Willingness to work after hours for maintenance or projects, to cross-train, and to collaborate with colleagues.

Required skills

• Microsoft Windows Desktop/Server OS, IIS and Remote Desktop Services.
• Network troubleshooting, specifically HP Aruba LAN and Wi-Fi.
• Virtualisation (Hyper-V/VMware), server/storage hardware (HP) and IP telephony (Teams/3CX) highly valued.
• Familiarity with O365, Azure, SharePoint and threat detection is an advantage.
