Senior ICT Specialist - Electrical, Data Center

About the role

AECOM is recruiting a Senior ICT Specialist in Cape Town for electrical and data center projects. The role works under broad supervision, plans and manages the implementation and integration of new ICT technologies, and takes ownership of standard ICT design packages with minimal supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Plan and manage implementation and integration of new technologies, and coordinate directly with architects and engineers
• Perform routine coordination, conduct independent site inspections on small to medium projects, and interpret standards without creating or modifying them
• Design and develop ICT systems such as network infrastructure, building management systems, CCTV, access control and security systems
• Create detailed technical specifications, drawings and documentation, and coordinate with project managers and other engineering disciplines
• Conduct site surveys, oversee installation, testing and commissioning, and troubleshoot technical issues in existing systems
• Design and support structured cabling, fibre optic networks, LAN/WAN, Wi-Fi, data centre and communications rooms, CCTV, access control, intruder detection, public address, intercom and BMS interfaces
• Provide informal guidance to candidate ICT specialists and begin contributing to project planning and design decisions

Required profile

• Grade 12 from an accredited education facility
• Certifications and/or registrations associated with ICT design
• Over 8 years of experience in ICT engineering design within the built environment
