Internal Auditor – Permanent Position

About the role

The Municipality seeks a qualified Internal Auditor to join its Municipal Manager Office on a permanent basis. The role involves conducting audits, ensuring compliance with municipal finance legislation, and supporting the Internal Audit Manager in safeguarding financial integrity.

Key responsibilities

• Execute internal audits in line with audit standards and report findings to the Internal Audit Manager.
• Monitor compliance with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA) and other relevant legislation.
• Prepare audit files, maintain documentation, and follow up on Auditor General and internal action plans.
• Communicate audit findings, participate in meetings, and provide recommendations to the Audit Performance & Risk Committee.
• Maintain accurate records of progress, notices, and correspondence related to audit activities.

Required profile

• B.Com or B-Tech degree in Internal Auditing, Accounting or Risk Management.
• 2–3 years of relevant internal audit experience.
• Valid driver’s licence and high‑level computer literacy.
• Professional designations such as Internal Audit Technician (IAT) or Professional Internal Auditor (PIA) are advantageous.
• Membership with professional bodies (e.g., IIASA, IRMSA) and completion of the Municipal Finance Management Programme (MFMP) are added benefits.

• Advanced Excel proficiency.
• Strong competence in Microsoft Office applications.
