Industry Payments & Portfolio Head

About the role

Standard Bank Group is looking for an Industry Payments & Portfolio Head in Johannesburg to lead its South Africa payments franchise. The role provides enterprise leadership across business units, setting a progressive country agenda covering commercial priorities, customer experience, payment types and rails, platforms, operations and data.

Key responsibilities

• Exercise a clear country-level mandate to align investment and execution, anticipate market and technology shifts and drive integrated growth outcomes, while enabling regulatory advocacy, compliance and change.
• Build and represent the bank's payments view at regulatory and industry interactions.

Required profile

• Masters degree in Business Commerce or Finance and Accounting.
• 5-7 years of experience in personal and private banking, with broad knowledge of foreign exchange, cross-border payments, cards, acquiring, cash, collections, payment rails, platforms and payments technology.
• Essential knowledge of payments regulation, regulatory engagement, compliance obligations and regulatory change in the South African payments environment.
• 8-10 years of proven track record orchestrating complex execution across business units, products, technology, operations, risk and control functions.
• More than 10 years of senior or executive-level experience in payments within a large financial services institution, as an experienced transactional banking or payments professional with leadership exposure across the payments value chain.
