Industrial Engineer – Lean Manufacturing

About the role

We are seeking two motivated Industrial Engineers to join a fast‑growing manufacturing operation in Pietermaritzburg. The role focuses on analysing, improving and optimising production processes to reduce lead times, boost efficiency and eliminate waste.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct method and time studies, workflow analysis and process‑mapping exercises.
• Identify bottlenecks and implement corrective actions to improve material flow and workplace layout.
• Drive Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen and continuous‑improvement initiatives across the plant.
• Monitor production KPIs (efficiency, downtime, throughput, scrap, lead time) and produce performance dashboards.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, work instructions and operational reports.
• Support cross‑functional projects with production, maintenance, quality and planning teams.
• Ensure all improvement activities comply with safety standards and support 5S housekeeping.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s, BTech or National Diploma in Industrial Engineering or a related field.
• 3–5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment.
• Proven track record in process optimisation and continuous‑improvement projects.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving and communication skills.
• Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and take initiative.
