Houseman – Hotel Housekeeping

About the role

The Houseman supports the housekeeping team in delivering high‑standard guest experiences at Fairmont Hotels & Resorts in Cape Town. Working under the direction of Housekeeping Management, you will handle linen logistics, corridor cleaning and guest requests to ensure a clean and welcoming environment.

Key responsibilities

• Exchange and deliver linen according to standards, ensuring pantry and linen room are stocked.
• Vacuum and dust corridors, staircases and public areas as assigned.
• Collect and report lost‑and‑found items and any equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain and store housekeeping equipment, including vacuums, after each shift.
• Fulfill guest supply orders and replenish service areas daily.
• Perform deep‑cleaning tasks such as spot carpet cleaning, shower‑head descaling, and window cleaning.
• Assist with drapery removal for cleaning and move furniture when required.
• Keep housekeeping offices, pantries and storerooms tidy and report health‑and‑safety hazards.
• Support training of new house attendants and attend housekeeping and HR training sessions.

Required profile

• Fluency in English (both written and verbal).
• Previous experience in hotel housekeeping, preferably in a 5‑star property.
• Customer‑service background is desirable.
• Dynamic, energetic and able to thrive under pressure.
• Willingness to comply with health‑and‑safety standards and reporting procedures.
