Houseman – Hotel Housekeeping

About the role

The Houseman supports the housekeeping team in delivering clean, safe, and welcoming guest rooms at a Marriott hotel in Cape Town. You will follow established procedures, record room status, and assist with guest service requests while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Enter the status of rooms cleaned and complete checklists to report cleanliness and condition.
• Prepare required housekeeping paperwork and identify room assignments and cleaning types.
• Inspect guest rooms after cleaning, ensuring they meet Marriott standards.
• Respond promptly to guest and departmental requests, following proper access procedures.
• Assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, and performance coaching as needed.
• Follow all company safety, security, and fire‑safety policies; report hazards or incidents.
• Maintain a clean, professional uniform and appearance.
• Use computers or point‑of‑sale systems to record information and retrieve work‑related data.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least 1 year of relevant housekeeping experience.
• Ability to lift, carry, and move objects up to 55 lb unaided and heavier items with assistance.
• Physical stamina to stand, walk, kneel, and perform repetitive motions throughout a shift.
• Basic computer literacy for data entry and document verification.
