Higher Education Lecturer – Hospitality

About the role

The International Hotel School Durban Campus is seeking a Higher Education Lecturer to deliver hospitality programmes, inspire eager students and support their career development within the industry.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, deliver and evaluate lectures and practical sessions for hospitality students.
• Develop and update curriculum and assessment materials in line with industry standards.
• Administer student records, grades and progress reports using relevant computer systems.
• Maintain high student throughput and pass rates through effective teaching and support.
• Collaborate with industry partners to ensure relevance of course content.
• Stay current with hospitality trends and incorporate them into teaching.

Required profile

• NQF Level 7 hospitality qualification (essential).
• Registration with ETDP SETA as an Assessor (beneficial).
• Scoped by CATHSSETA (beneficial).
• Minimum of 5 years practical hospitality industry experience.
• Minimum of 2 years lecturing or teaching experience.
• Demonstrated history of student throughput and pass rates.

Required skills

• Proficiency with relevant computer software for teaching and administration.
• Strong administrative ability.
• Knowledge of curriculum design and assessment processes.
