Head of Finance – Senior Leadership Role

About the role

Our client, a leading manufacturer and FMCG player, is seeking a dynamic Head of Finance to lead the finance function in Johannesburg. This senior position combines technical accounting expertise with operational finance leadership to drive performance and continuous optimisation.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage the full finance function, ensuring strong governance and compliance.
• Drive technical accounting excellence and operational finance across the business.
• Act as a strategic business partner to executive leadership and operational teams.
• Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes.
• Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, efficiency improvements, and margin enhancement.
• Deliver accurate and insightful financial reporting to support decision‑making.
• Strengthen internal controls and implement best practices.
• Lead, mentor and develop a high‑performing finance team.

Required profile

• CA(SA) qualification or completed CIMA (essential).
• Minimum 10 + years of finance experience.
• Proven background in manufacturing, FMCG or automotive sectors (non‑negotiable).
• Strong blend of technical accounting and operational finance expertise.
• Demonstrated experience in business partnering and driving optimisation initiatives.
• Leadership presence with the ability to influence at executive level.
