Handyman

About the role

Hyde Johannesburg Rosebank, a festival-inspired lifestyle hotel with 131 rooms, is looking for a handyman. The role covers keeping facilities, furniture and equipment clean and in good repair, performing maintenance and repairs, and responding promptly to guest requests.

Key responsibilities

• Keep furnishing, facilities and equipment clean, in good repair and safe for use, replacing or refurbishing them as needed
• Carry out preventative maintenance, installations, repairs and troubleshooting on refrigeration and electrical systems and general facilities
• Perform rotation cleaning duties as required and respond quickly to breakdowns
• Report accidents or equipment damage immediately
• Attend to guest requests and inquiries courteously, complete logistics duties with minimal disruption, and leave work areas clean
• Report guest property left behind in rooms and follow quality standards, complete required paperwork and suggest improvements to management
• Maintain storage facilities and know how to operate departmental machines, equipment and tools

Required profile

• Qualified electrician, mechanic or plumber with a recognised trade test
• Experience in advanced facilities and equipment maintenance
• Intermediate-level knowledge of equipment and facilities maintenance
• Effective communication in English
• Ability to work safely and effectively under pressure
