Grid Engineer

About the role

This position supports utility‑scale wind, solar and hybrid renewable projects throughout their lifecycle. Based in Cape Town, the Grid Engineer will lead grid connection, compliance and transmission planning activities for a global renewables developer.

Key responsibilities

• Lead grid connection studies, network assessments and transmission planning for renewable projects.
• Manage grid applications and liaise with Eskom, utilities and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with South African Grid Codes and related regulations.
• Support RETEC submissions, compliance audits and commissioning activities.
• Review equipment specifications and develop grid integration solutions.
• Provide technical support during development, construction and operations phases.
• Prepare technical reports, compliance documentation and inputs for commercial evaluations.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in grid engineering, network planning or power systems.
• Background in renewable energy, utilities, transmission networks or IPP environments.
• Strong understanding of Eskom grid processes and Grid Code compliance.
• Proven stakeholder management and communication abilities.
• Experience with wind, solar, BESS or hybrid projects is preferred.
