Structural Engineer – Renewable Energy Projects

About the role

BVi Consulting Engineers Western Cape is seeking a permanent Structural Engineer to join its Cape Town office. The role focuses on detailed design and implementation of civil infrastructure for renewable energy projects, with an emphasis on reinforced concrete and structural steel. You will work across the project lifecycle, from concept through construction and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Design and implement civil infrastructure for wind farm and solar PV projects, concentrating on reinforced concrete and structural steel.
• Author and review structural design documentation, including calculation sheets, reports, and drawings.
• Provide engineering input from design through construction, ensuring compliance with Eurocode and relevant standards.
• Prepare and review technical reports, specifications, and project documentation.
• Monitor progress, contribute to project reporting, and attend construction meetings.
• Conduct site inspections, investigate technical issues, and propose corrective actions.
• Liaise with contractors, clients, consultants, and other stakeholders to facilitate effective delivery.
• Review contractor submissions, method statements, and technical information.
• Support quality control and ensure construction meets engineering and project standards.

Required profile

• BEng/BSc in Civil Engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of relevant post‑graduate engineering experience.
• 1–2 years of practical site experience within the renewable energy sector.
• Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA.
• Sound knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles, limit‑state design, and construction practices.
• Valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to project sites.
• Experience with Revit and C3D for parametric modelling.
