Geography Teacher – FET (CAPS Curriculum)

About the role

La Vigne Educational House is seeking a dedicated Geography Teacher for its Further Education and Training (FET) programme. The successful candidate will deliver CAPS‑aligned Geography lessons to learners in Durbanville, fostering critical thinking and a deep understanding of both physical and human geography.

Key responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver engaging Geography lessons in line with the CAPS curriculum.
• Design and assess assignments, tests and projects, providing constructive feedback.
• Maintain accurate learner records and assessment data.
• Differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs in small class settings.
• Communicate regularly with parents, guardians and colleagues.
• Participate in school events, meetings and professional development activities.

Required profile

• Relevant teaching qualification and registration (or eligibility) with the South African teaching council for FET Geography.
• Strong knowledge of the CAPS curriculum and FET Geography content.
• Experience teaching Geography at FET level, with ability to adapt lessons for varied learners.
• Commitment to inclusive education and learner well‑being.

Required skills

• Proficiency with presentation tools.
• Experience using learning management systems.
• Ability to incorporate digital resources and visual aids such as maps and data sets.
