Fleet Manager

About the role

Our client, a leading transport and logistics provider in South Africa, is seeking a Fleet Manager to oversee day‑to‑day depot operations in Kraaifontein, near Cape Town. The role includes managing driver productivity, vehicle maintenance, budgeting, and client service to meet service‑level agreements.

Key responsibilities

• Control budgets: approve invoices, manage creditors, handle insurance claims, traffic fines, and vehicle maintenance costs.
• Maintain driver hours and resource planning using data analysis for budget input.
• Deliver client service within SLA, manage stakeholder relationships, and resolve client queries.
• Oversee fleet operations: schedule maintenance, conduct weekly checks, manage wash bay, handle breakdowns, licensing, and diesel consumption.
• Plan and load trips using the in‑house application, schedule driver shifts, and perform route planning.
• Manage site facilities including wash bay, workshop, and diesel storage.
• Prepare and submit weekly operational and financial reports, as well as monthly operational statistics.
• Drive operational efficiencies and superior customer experiences.
• Lead staff development, performance management, and address employee grievances.

Required profile

• Fluent in both Afrikaans and English.
• Proven experience in fleet or logistics management.
• Strong budgeting, reporting, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Ability to lead a team of drivers and support staff.
