Financial Planning Specialist

About the role

The Financial Planning Specialist will support financial advisors by providing expert investment, estate, and business planning advice. Working within a Specialist Support Services division, the role enhances the value proposition offered to members and prospective members, aiming to improve overall client experience.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver technical advice on investments and related financial matters to clients.
• Assess client financial circumstances and develop tailored proposals using financial planning software.
• Research and analyse products, services, and regulatory frameworks (IFRS, GAAP) to match client needs.
• Draft comprehensive financial solutions, including complex estates, offshore assets, trusts, and tax issues.
• Collaborate with advisors and specialist teams to ensure seamless support and continuity of service.
• Contribute to the development of best‑practice guidelines and house views.

Required profile

• Commercial or financial degree with a major in Accounting, Financial Management, or Taxation, or BCom with relevant honours/post‑graduate diploma.
• Professional certifications such as CFP®, RE representative exams, and preferably SAIPA, SAICA, or FISA®.
• 3–5 years of experience in financial planning, investment advice, or wealth management.
• Strong analytical, numerical, and problem‑solving abilities.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a client‑centric mindset.
• High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and ability to work independently and under pressure.
