Accountant – Full‑time, Cape Town

About the role

This is a proactive, hands‑on Accountant role within a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial group. You will own month‑end accounting, management reporting, reconciliations, statutory compliance and financial controls across several entities, while supporting junior finance staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and process accounting records through to trial balance and complete month‑end close activities.
• Produce monthly management reporting packs, analyse income‑statement variances and explain performance drivers.
• Support cash‑flow management, budgeting and forecasting across group entities.
• Prepare and submit VAT201 and EMP201 returns on time.
• Review and validate journal entries prepared by junior team members and strengthen internal controls.
• Identify financial risks, unusual trends and provide practical recommendations.

Required profile

• Completed BCom Accounting degree or equivalent qualification.
• 3‑5 years of hands‑on experience with trial balances, general‑ledger reconciliations, month‑end reporting and VAT.
• Strong analytical ability, attention to detail and sound financial judgement.
• Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities to meet deadlines.

Required skills

• Advanced Microsoft Excel
• Sage 300 Accpac (or comparable accounting system)
