Financial Controller

About the role

We are seeking a competent and motivated Financial Controller to lead the Finance Department’s accounting and reporting functions. The role will ensure accurate financial management, compliance with IFRS for SMEs and German GAAP, and support strategic decision‑making.

Key responsibilities

• Manage day‑to‑day accounting operations including general ledger, AP, AR, fixed assets, inventory and bank reconciliations.
• Prepare and maintain short‑ and long‑term cash forecasts and submit weekly cash‑flow reports.
• Oversee month‑end, quarter‑end and year‑end close processes in line with applicable standards.
• Review balance‑sheet reconciliations, AR aging, GRNI/unvouched items and unapplied payments.
• Coordinate government incentive submissions and support finance manager with analysis and projects.
• Lead the audit process, remediate findings and continuously improve financial controls.
• Document and streamline finance processes for efficiency and accuracy.
• Manage, develop and evaluate direct reports, handling training, performance and disciplinary matters.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field.
• Professional qualification such as CA(SA) (SAICA) or equivalent.
• 5‑10 years of finance experience, including 2‑5 years in a senior finance role.
• Experience in a manufacturing environment is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of business processes, leadership and intercultural experience.
• Results‑orientation, attention to detail, initiative and assertive communication.

Required skills

• Proficiency with MS Office.
• Experience using an accounting system.
• Working knowledge of IFRS for SMEs.
• Familiarity with German GAAP.
• Cash‑forecasting and financial modelling.
