Junior Accountant

About the role

BDO is seeking a motivated Junior Accountant to join its Business Services and Advisory Department. The role offers exposure to a diverse portfolio of clients, including individuals, trust companies, and close corporations, providing a solid foundation in professional accounting services.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a portfolio of clients comprising individuals, trust companies, and close corporations.
• Execute compilation engagements in line with ISRS 4410.
• Conduct independent review engagements following ISRE 2400.
• Perform accounting officer engagements under the Close Corporations Act.
• Ensure thorough planning before execution and adherence to BDO SOPs.
• Propose journal entries and communicate engagement arrangements and results to clients.
• Prepare, process, and maintain accounting records for multiple entities.
• Perform balance‑sheet reconciliations and prepare audit files.
• Finalize accounts and produce monthly management accounts.

Required profile

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, both internal and external.
• BCom in Financial Accounting or equivalent qualification.
• Working knowledge of commonly used accounting packages.
• Detailed knowledge of Caseware working papers.
