Finance Officer

About the role

SPENDL is seeking a Finance Officer to own the day‑to‑day finance function as the company scales. Based in Cape Town with a hybrid working model, you will work closely with the CEO and leadership team, gaining visibility across the entire business.

Key responsibilities

• Run the monthly close process, including reconciliations, journal entries and management accounts.
• Manage accounts payable and receivable workflows.
• Support payroll processing and related reporting.
• Maintain the chart of accounts and ensure consistent transaction coding.
• Prepare management reporting packs for the CEO and leadership team.
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting and cash‑flow tracking.
• Support treasury operations across fiat and digital‑asset holdings.
• Reconcile transactions across banking partners, payment rails and on‑chain activity.
• Provide audit, tax and regulatory support, including year‑end audit and VAT/PAYE compliance.
• Help maintain financial controls, processes and systems as the business scales.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on finance experience in fintech, payments, financial services or audit.
• Relevant qualification such as BCom in Finance or Accounting; progress towards CA(SA), SAIPA, ACCA or CIMA is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of management accounts, reconciliations and the monthly close cycle.
