Factory Maintenance Engineer

About the role

Nestlé is seeking a Factory Maintenance Engineer to join the Harrismith plant. You will help implement and execute a maintenance programme that reduces unplanned stops, optimises costs and boosts asset performance while supporting sustainability initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead safety initiatives to achieve zero‑harm objectives and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Develop and review non‑routine plans for breakdowns, emergencies and power failures.
• Participate in planned maintenance activities, ensuring timely and high‑quality execution.
• Support Autonomous Maintenance (AM) pillar implementation and coach teams on breakdown analysis.
• Drive line reliability, improve equipment speed and overall performance.
• Provide input for the annual maintenance budget, manage CAPEX/OPEX spend and track budget performance.
• Contribute to competence‑building plans for the maintenance team.

Required profile

• Engineering degree or diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 3 years of engineering management or maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Leadership experience preferred; FMCG or food‑processing background advantageous.
