Facilities Manager

About the role

The Engineering department is looking for a detail-oriented, process-driven Facilities Manager to oversee preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance of company infrastructure and facilities across its branches and properties. The role suits someone comfortable in a fast-paced, demanding and pressurised environment. It reports to the Senior Engineering Manager and the Divisional Directors of Engineering.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, implement and manage preventative maintenance programmes for company facilities and infrastructure
• Oversee maintenance of buildings, structural elements, electrical systems, plumbing, HVAC and other facility assets
• Carry out regular inspections and condition assessments of structures and infrastructure
• Coordinate and supervise contractors, service providers and maintenance teams
• Prepare and maintain maintenance schedules
• Manage stock, spares and materials internally and with suppliers
• Respond to facility emergencies and coordinate corrective actions
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, reports and documentation
• Ensure compliance with timekeeping, productivity, discipline and work programmes, and with legal, company and health and safety rules and regulations
• Liaise with HR on staff concerns, issues and disciplinary matters
• Perform other tasks suited to this level of management

Required profile

• Grade 12 education or equivalent; Diploma in Facilities, Project Management, Building Management or similar
• At least 10 years of experience in facilities or infrastructure, including at least 5 years of proven management experience
• Understanding of building regulations, occupational health and safety standards and compliance requirements
• Valid driver's licence
• Willingness to work overtime when required

Required skills

• Computer literacy (MS Word, MS Excel)
• Experience with an electronic maintenance system
• Knowledge of SAP Plant Maintenance (PM)
• Strong communication, planning, organisational and problem-solving skills
