Extruder Operator – Food Production

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Extruder Operator to run and monitor noodle extrusion equipment in our Durban food manufacturing plant. The role involves setting up the machinery, ensuring product quality, and meeting daily production targets while adhering to strict food safety standards.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate noodle extrusion equipment according to production schedules.
• Monitor and adjust machine settings such as temperature, pressure, and feed rates.
• Conduct regular quality checks on noodles for size, texture, moisture content, and appearance.
• Record inspection results, report deviations, and take corrective action.
• Load raw materials correctly and ensure continuous production flow.
• Minimise waste and downtime by monitoring processes.
• Complete production records, shift reports, and machine logs accurately.
• Perform routine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance of equipment.
• Assist maintenance personnel during repairs and breakdowns.
• Maintain a clean, hygienic work environment and follow all health, safety, GMP, HACCP, and food safety requirements.

Required profile

• Grade 12 (Matric) qualification; food manufacturing or production qualification advantageous.
• 2–3 years’ experience operating extrusion machinery in a food manufacturing environment.
• Previous experience in noodle, pasta, snack, or related food processing preferred.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot machinery and process issues.
• Good communication, teamwork, and attention to detail.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet production targets.
• Basic numerical and record‑keeping skills.
