Experienced Registered Nurse - ICU

About the role

Randfontein Private Hospital is recruiting an experienced Registered Nurse for its General ICU department. The nurse delivers safe, cost-effective patient care in line with hospital standards and policies, and provides direct and/or indirect nursing care to patients or groups of patients, assessing, planning, executing and supervising care.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver patient care in line with the Scope of Practice and take full responsibility for it
• Contribute to the holistic care of patients
• Attend shift handovers and communicate clearly with patients about their care
• Promote patient health and wellbeing, and maintain good relations with patients, relatives and visitors
• Audit health records to ensure compliance
• Ensure stock is well controlled, managed, charged and credited correctly
• Be flexible to rotate to other wards when occupancies fluctuate

Required profile

• Registration with the South African Nursing Council as a Registered Nurse or Midwife, or an equivalent NQF 7 qualification
• 3 years of experience in ICU disciplines
• 6-month basic certificate is essential
• Flexible availability for different working hours and shifts

Required skills

• Basic computer literacy
• Ability to implement and maintain health practice standards required by accredited bodies and health legislation
