Experienced Barista - Casual Event Staffing

About the role

Bosse Events, a Durban-based event management and hospitality staffing agency, is recruiting experienced baristas to join its casual hospitality staffing team. The work covers upcoming events and ongoing assignments at corporate functions, private events, conferences, exhibitions and premium hospitality venues across KwaZulu-Natal.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and serve espresso-based drinks such as cappuccinos, flat whites, lattes and americanos, plus other specialty coffees.
• Operate commercial espresso machines and coffee grinders, adjusting grinding and extraction settings as needed.
• Steam and texture milk correctly and maintain consistent quality.
• Set up and manage coffee stations at events and venues, and help with setup and breakdown.
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of equipment and monitor stock of coffee, milk and other consumables.
• Process customer orders and payments where required, and provide friendly, efficient service during busy periods.

Required profile

• Minimum 1 year of experience as a professional barista.
• Previous experience in an established coffee shop, restaurant, hotel or specialty coffee environment.
• Ability to work efficiently under pressure, with a professional appearance and good personal hygiene.
• Reliable transport to and from event venues, and availability for weekday and weekend assignments.
• Contactable references.

Required skills

• Confident operation of commercial espresso machines; strong understanding of coffee extraction, grinding and milk texturing.
• Ability to consistently prepare standard espresso-based beverages.
• Basic latte art skills preferred.
• Experience with POS systems and customer payments; GAAP POS experience is advantageous.
