About the role

The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) seeks a Specialist in Applied Investigation to lead high‑quality research, statistical analysis and econometric modelling that support revenue mobilisation and tax administration reforms across its 45 African member countries.

Key responsibilities

• Design and conduct applied research on fiscal policy, tax administration and revenue mobilisation.
• Develop robust data‑collection frameworks, analytical tools and econometric models to generate forecasts and identify trends.
• Produce clear, impactful knowledge products such as policy briefs, technical reports and comparative studies.
• Carry out impact assessments of tax reforms and provide practical recommendations.
• Provide technical consulting, capacity‑building support and present findings to diverse stakeholder groups.
• Lead the collection, validation, analysis and publication of tax administration statistics and benchmark indicators.
• Contribute to planning, budgeting, risk management and donor‑compliance reporting.

Required profile

• Advanced degree in economics, statistics, public finance or a related field.
• Proven experience in applied research, quantitative analysis and policy evaluation.
• Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate data into actionable insights.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
