Engineering Technician Production (Grade A‑C) – 2 Positions

About the role

The Department of Water and Sanitation seeks two Engineering Technicians (Grade A‑C) to support water management activities in the Western Cape. The role involves extensive field work, data handling and coordination of maintenance teams.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and evaluate primary and secondary hydrological data across water management areas.
• Manage real‑time data, maintain databases and oversee data processing and editing.
• Supervise maintenance and construction teams for gauging infrastructure, including installation, calibration and inspection of flow gauging stations.
• Procure maintenance materials, support project implementation throughout the full lifecycle and contribute to budgeting and reporting.

Required profile

• Experience in hydrological data collection, processing and database management.
• Ability to supervise technical personnel and coordinate infrastructure development projects.
• Willingness to travel extensively as required and maintain compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
