Earthwork Chargehand

About the role

The Earthwork Chargehand will coordinate daily operations on a construction site, leading a team of earth‑moving personnel to ensure projects are completed safely, on time, and to quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Leadership: supervise, motivate and guide the earthwork crew, enforce safety protocols and company policies.
• Planning & Scheduling: translate project requirements into a prioritized work plan, monitor daily goals and adjust schedules to meet production forecasts.
• Quality Control: identify and resolve issues among team members, promote teamwork and maintain a positive work environment.
• Administration: report progress, manage daily time‑and‑attendance records, keep disciplinary logs and recommend workforce actions such as recruitment, promotions or releases.
• Safety: conduct mandatory toolbox talks, complete initial safety and hazard assessments, participate in incident investigations and ensure vehicle/equipment checks are performed.

Required profile

• Proven experience supervising earthwork or construction teams.
• Strong understanding of site safety procedures and ability to lead safety briefings.
• Capability to plan, prioritize and adapt work schedules to meet production targets.
• Effective communication and conflict‑resolution skills.
