Duty Manager – Pre‑opening Hotel Operations

About the role

The Duty Manager will act as the Property Manager on Duty during the pre‑opening phase of The EDITION Hotel Cape Town, ensuring seamless hotel operations and delivering the highest standards of guest service.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee daily property operations, including front desk, housekeeping and guest services.
• Document and resolve guest concerns and property incidents promptly.
• Manage lobby traffic, direct guests, and track service issues.
• Maintain strong relationships with all departments to expedite problem resolution.
• Distribute daily MOD reports to relevant teams and ensure compliance with hotel policies.
• Monitor staffing levels, review financial and sales reports, and support profitability goals.
• Intervene in guest or associate situations to protect the property’s integrity and guest satisfaction.
• Record guest feedback in the response tracking system and assist with corrective action plans.
• Support human‑resources activities related to service behavior observation.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least four years of experience in guest services, front desk, housekeeping or a related area, OR
• A two‑year degree in Hotel & Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration or a related field with at least two years of relevant experience.

Required skills

• Strong knowledge of hotel operations and guest‑service standards.
• Ability to use property management and guest response tracking systems.
• Excellent communication and problem‑solving abilities.
