Donor Care Officer

About the role

The Donor Care Officer is responsible for ensuring smooth operation of blood drives and donor centres. This role combines logistical management, donor interaction, and clinical support to meet collection targets while maintaining high standards of safety and service.

Key responsibilities

• Manage consumable stock, cost per unit and equipment maintenance for whole‑blood and specialised collections.
• Welcome and guide donors, assist with registration, and ensure they receive required information before medical assessment.
• Collect whole blood and apheresis units, pack and unload vehicles, and set up blood‑drive venues on time.
• Complete donor documentation, conduct basic physical checks, risk‑behaviour interviews and educate donors on high‑risk behaviours.
• Perform phlebotomy according to SOPs, provide in‑donation care, refreshments and post‑donation advice.
• Handle donor complaints, coach team members on customer service, and report irregularities to the clinic supervisor.
• Initiate emergency treatment (First Aid/CPR) when required and coordinate with medical leads.

Required profile

• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage stock, equipment and collection targets.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Ability to follow standard operating procedures and maintain accurate records.
• Capable of performing basic health assessments and risk interviews.
• Prepared to respond to emergencies and provide first‑aid care.
