Distribution Controller – Driver Sales Management

About the role

The Distribution Controller will lead the Driver Sales team to ensure timely, full deliveries while optimizing routes and managing product distribution across the market. This role combines operational planning, compliance oversight, and people management to drive efficient distribution performance.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct daily driver debriefs and review route performance using the debrief form.
• Manage returns, stock on trucks, departure times, and crate movements to maximise recovery.
• Implement and monitor route optimisation models and schedules for efficient delivery.
• Track and report distribution performance metrics and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and Tiger Brands policies.
• Oversee staff establishment, weekly wages, leave rosters, attendance, training, development and disciplinary actions.
• Drive risk management by training crews on defensive driving, monitoring incidents and escalating issues.
• Standardise and deliver induction programmes for driver sales staff and van assistants.
• Prepare accurate, timely reports using approved templates in line with statutory requirements.

Required profile

• Diploma in Logistics (NQF Level 6) or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience in FMCG logistics or distribution.
• Ability to work within Tiger Brands’ employment equity and compliance frameworks.
