DevOps Engineer

About the role

PathCare, a network of private‑practice pathologists in South Africa, is looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer to join its Server and Network Infrastructure team at the N1 City branch. You will work closely with development and server teams to build and maintain robust CI/CD pipelines, automate processes, and ensure the security and quality of our software products.

Key responsibilities

• Design, implement and maintain on‑premises CI/CD pipelines for software delivery.
• Define and set up development, test, release, update and support processes for DevOps operations.
• Monitor system performance, availability and security; troubleshoot complex issues.
• Automate repetitive tasks and streamline operations through scripting and tooling.
• Collaborate with the security team to perform vulnerability assessments and apply cybersecurity measures.
• Manage incidents, conduct root‑cause analysis and drive continuous improvement.
• Mentor and guide junior team members.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of proven experience as a DevOps Engineer.
• Strong ethics, integrity and alignment with PathCare values.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Excellent problem‑solving, communication and documentation skills.

Required skills

• CI/CD tools: Jenkins, GitLab, DevOps Pipelines.
• Container technologies: Docker, Kubernetes, AWS ECS, Docker Swarm.
• Scripting/automation: Perl, Python, Shell, PowerShell, Groovy.
• Cloud platform: Amazon Web Services (AWS) and related services.
• Database design and optimisation.
• Experience with Angular and Java containerisation (advantageous).
• Understanding of microservices architecture and Agile development practices.
