Despatch Supervisor

About the role

The Despatch Supervisor leads shift operations to ensure efficient and high‑service dispatch of products in a fast‑moving consumer goods environment. You will oversee a team of clerks, loaders and shunters, coordinate truck loading and cage transfers, and maintain real‑time communication across the factory floor.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support the dispatch team, providing training, performance feedback and workload allocation.
• Coordinate loading of trucks, cage transfers to holding cages and personnel movement to meet production schedules.
• Monitor dispatch timing, route planning and resource allocation to ensure on‑time deliveries.
• Act as liaison between factory supervisors, sales representatives, distribution controllers and management, communicating changes, emergencies and truck allocations.
• Enforce compliance with Tiger Brands policies, BMR, FSSC 22000, EHS and EMS standards.
• Maintain accurate dispatch records, reconcile loads and prepare operational reports for the Dispatch Controller.
• Respond to incidents, resolve route or equipment issues, and manage conflicts in real time.

Required profile

• Advanced Diploma or Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or a related field.
• 2–3 years of despatch experience in the FMCG sector.
• Proven supervisory and administrative abilities.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Team Connect system.
• Experience using Shop floor development system.
• Knowledge of BMR, FSSC 22000, EHS and EMS compliance requirements.
