Customer Assistant – Foods (Full‑Time)

About the role

Join Woolworths as a Customer Assistant in the Foods department, based in Phalaborwa. You will be the first point of contact for shoppers, delivering friendly service, product knowledge and ensuring the store environment meets the highest standards of cleanliness and safety.

Key responsibilities

• Greet customers warmly and provide expert advice on food products.
• Maintain optimal stock levels by replenishing shelves, rotating stock and minimizing waste.
• Follow health, safety, hygiene and food‑handling protocols at all times.
• Operate the cash register and perform basic administrative tasks using a computer.
• Identify and report quality issues, suspicious activity and stock shrinkage.
• Keep the department tidy and arrange merchandise according to planograms.
• Communicate promotions and new product lines effectively.
• Work flexible shifts to meet business needs while maintaining a professional demeanor.

Required profile

• Minimum education: Grade 12 or equivalent.
• Basic computer literacy for stock management and administrative duties.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including various shifts.
• Strong customer‑service orientation with clear, polite communication.
• Attention to detail for stock quality, safety and hygiene.
• Reliability, teamwork and ethical behaviour in a fast‑paced retail setting.
