Construction Health and Safety Manager

About the role

Bantubani Group, a leading provider of routine road maintenance and road construction services, is seeking a qualified Construction Health and Safety Manager to join its professional register. The successful candidate will be considered for project‑based appointments on high‑value infrastructure contracts across South Africa.

Key responsibilities

• Implement and maintain health and safety management systems on all construction sites.
• Audit health and safety files, conduct site inspections and facilitate client audits.
• Record, report, investigate accidents and incidents, and ensure corrective and preventative actions are applied.
• Develop and approve safety files, conduct inductions for subcontractors, and ensure OHS compliance with the OHS Act.
• Organise emergency preparedness drills, adapt OHS documents to client requirements, and identify risks with safe work procedures.
• Lead risk and hazard assessments, arrange corrective actions, and deliver site trainings and toolbox talks.
• Attend monthly site and committee meetings and travel regularly between sites.

Required profile

• Registered Construction Health and Safety Officer/Manager with SACPCMP registration (Section 17 of the OHS Act).
• Minimum three years of relevant experience.
• Degree, diploma or certificates in Health and Safety.
• Valid driver’s licence and excellent written communication skills.

Required skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook.
• Knowledge of SAMTRAC (advantageous).
• Ability to conduct risk assessments and develop safe work procedures.
