Compliance Officer – FAIS Oversight for Distribution Channels

About the role

The FAIS Centre of Excellence, part of Group Compliance, seeks a Compliance Officer to provide regulatory advice and oversight for Financial Service Providers (FSPs), representatives, key individuals and franchised entities operating through distribution channels.

Key responsibilities

• Advise management on implementing and maintaining a compliant framework aligned with business objectives.
• Identify training and awareness needs across the distribution network.
• Build and sustain cross‑functional relationships with internal and external stakeholders to anticipate emerging risk areas.
• Guide key individuals, representatives and juristic representatives on suitable control frameworks and regulatory obligations.
• Monitor business processes, procedures and systems for compliance with FAIS legislation and related statutes.
• Stay current on regulatory developments, especially FAIS and POPIA requirements.
• Conduct onsite visits to review client files, assess operational processes and deliver compliance updates.
• Establish mechanisms to coordinate and drive compliance culture within the distribution channel.

Required profile

• Strong knowledge of FAIS legislation, subordinate regulations and industry standards.
• Experience advising FSPs, representatives or similar financial entities on compliance matters.
• Ability to assess risk, develop control frameworks and provide practical guidance.
• Proactive in monitoring regulatory changes and implementing appropriate responses.
