About the role
Sappi is seeking a Commodity Specialist to support the planning, execution and control of the procurement process for tactical, non‑strategic commodities. The role works closely with internal customers, management and suppliers to ensure smooth operational delivery and alignment with company goals.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies for tactical, non‑strategic products in line with procurement policy.
- Analyse supply markets, demand patterns and commodity strategies to inform sourcing decisions.
- Negotiate short‑ and medium‑term commercial agreements, draft supply and service level agreements, and coordinate with Legal for contract finalisation.
- Maintain supplier database, monitor performance against SLAs, and conduct supplier audits.
- Identify inventory and working‑capital reduction initiatives and support stock management activities.
- Load and maintain contract pricing in SAP, and liaise with internal and external auditors.
Required profile
- Relevant Degree or Diploma (NQF Level 6‑7).
- 5‑8 years of experience in industrial procurement, materials management or finance.
- Experience in a technical or manufacturing environment is advantageous.
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills.
