Commis Chef – Hotel Kitchen (2+ yrs experience)

About the role

Join the culinary team at The President Hotel where creativity, precision and teamwork create memorable dining experiences. We are looking for a motivated Commis Chef with at least two years of professional kitchen experience to support our high‑volume hotel kitchen.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with food preparation and cooking across different kitchen sections.
• Prepare and maintain mise en place to ensure readiness for service.
• Follow recipes, portion controls and presentation standards consistently.
• Support senior chefs during busy service periods and ensure food quality.
• Maintain clean, organised and hygienic workstations and adhere to food safety and HACCP procedures.
• Assist with stock rotation, correct storage and minimise food waste.

Required profile

• Matric Certificate (Grade 12) and recognised culinary qualification.
• Minimum 2 years experience in a professional kitchen, preferably in a 4‑star or 5‑star hotel.
• Understanding of food safety, hygiene and HACCP standards.
• Ability to work shifts, weekends and public holidays.
• South African ID or valid work permit.
