Chief Financial Officer – South Africa

About the role

The Chief Financial Officer will act as a strategic and commercial partner to the South Africa leadership team, providing financial insight, challenge and guidance to drive growth and performance. Reporting to the Managing Director, the CFO will translate financial data into actionable business decisions and support the execution of the company’s long‑term strategy.

Key responsibilities

• Partner with the Managing Director and senior leadership to shape and execute the South Africa business strategy.
• Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting and performance‑management processes.
• Analyse revenue, margin, cost and cash drivers and present clear insights to the leadership team.
• Identify risks and opportunities, recommending actions to improve financial outcomes.
• Build, develop and coach a high‑performing finance team with strong commercial and analytical capabilities.
• Maintain robust financial controls, governance and risk‑management in line with LexisNexis and RELX standards.
• Promote the use of data, technology and AI to enhance finance effectiveness and decision‑making.

Required profile

• Proven financial judgement with a track record of influencing business strategy.
• Extensive experience as a strategic and commercial partner to senior leadership.
• Strong expertise in financial planning, forecasting and performance management.
• Ability to translate complex financial and operational data into clear business actions.
• Leadership experience in developing and coaching finance teams.
• Solid understanding of financial controls, governance and risk frameworks.
