About the role

Kumba Iron Ore is seeking a skilled Carpenter to support the Engineering & Maintenance Plant department. You will be responsible for maintaining, fabricating, and repairing carpentry components and tools to keep our mining operations running safely and efficiently.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain and repair carpentry components on buildings and infrastructure, ensuring longevity and compliance with safety standards.
• Fabricate tools and equipment according to work instructions or job cards, meeting timelines and budget constraints.
• Service and maintain tools and equipment, following job cards to achieve optimal functionality.
• Read equipment instructions and technical drawings, mark components during work, and complete accurate job documentation.
• Evaluate installations, commission infrastructure, and verify post‑installation performance.
• Assist supervisors and colleagues, providing proactive carpentry advice and adhering to company policies.

Required profile

• Grade 12/N3 Technical (NQF3) or equivalent.
• Carpenter Trade Certificate.
• Valid South African driver’s licence.
• 2–3 years of relevant carpentry experience in an industrial or mining environment.
• Knowledge of health and safety standards and relevant company policies.
