Business Development Manager

About the role

We are seeking a Business Development Manager to lead the creation and management of a robust funding pipeline that will support the growth and impact of our non‑profit programmes in South Africa. The role reports directly to the CEO and works closely with senior managers across operations, marketing, finance and HR.

Key responsibilities

• Develop a growth strategy aligned with the foundation’s strategic objectives.
• Identify, approach and secure funders, donors and sponsorships.
• Promote the foundation’s mission and programmes to external audiences.
• Maintain and nurture relationships with existing funders and donors.
• Manage local and international partnerships and build new networks.
• Prepare and submit funding applications and grant proposals.
• Enhance the foundation’s brand and reputation.
• Compile monthly and quarterly reports for stakeholders.
• Monitor industry trends and funder needs to inform strategy.

Required profile

• Relevant degree (BA, BCom or BSocSci); Honours advantageous.
• 5–8 years of experience in business development, fundraising or a similar role.
• Strong administration and financial understanding.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, including report writing and public speaking.
• Proven ability to build networks and manage stakeholder relationships.
