Boilermaker Apprenticeship

About the role

Transnet is offering an Apprentice Boilermaker programme that provides practical, on‑the‑job training to develop the skills required to become a qualified artisan in the boilermaking trade.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare work areas, tools and materials.
• Use hand, power and measuring tools.
• Manufacture, assemble and fit components.
• Inspect, test, maintain and repair equipment.
• Apply safe working practices during trade activities.

Required profile

• South African citizen aged 18–30.
• Mathematics passed with at least 50%.
• Hold N2–N6 with relevant trade theory, Engineering Science and Mathematics, or NCV Level 4 with relevant vocational subjects and Mathematics, or Technical Grade 12 with Mathematics, Physical Science and relevant trade theory.
• Good communication and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to work well in a team.
• Applicants already holding a trade certificate (Red Seal) are not eligible.
