Billing Officer – Municipal Finance

About the role

The Kgatelopele Municipality is seeking a qualified Billing Officer to join its Budget and Treasury Office. The role involves managing revenue transactions, monitoring collections, and supporting financial planning within the municipality.

Key responsibilities

• Control and coordinate verification of revenue transactions and ensure accurate reporting.
• Monitor revenue collection, process receipts, and resolve procedural deviations.
• Consolidate debtor accounts, prepare reports, and generate consumer billing statements.
• Prepare statistical cash‑flow reports and explain short‑ to medium‑term trends.
• Interact with internal and external auditors, providing required documentation.
• Supervise section personnel, set objectives, and implement performance improvements.
• Balance cash receipts, prepare bank deposit notifications, and reconcile ledger accounts.
• Generate debtor age analysis, issue reminders, and manage overdue accounts.
• Provide guidance on payment procedures and respond to queries on discounts and settlements.

Required profile

• National Diploma in Financial Management or Accounting (NQF 6).
• Minimum of 2 years experience in billing or related accounting roles.
