Banking Team Leader – Short-Term Commercial Insurance

About the role

Our client is a commercial risk specialist operating across Southern Africa, partnering with customers and brokers to protect businesses and improve risk profiles. The Banking Team Leader will manage the daily operations of the Finance Banking team, driving operational efficiencies, stakeholder service, and a culture of excellence. This position reports to the Head of Financial Operations.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee day‑to‑day activities of the Finance Banking team, including cash planning, insurance receipt processing, and payment approvals.
• Administer banking platforms, provide first‑line support for online banking users, and reconcile business credit‑card expenditures.
• Deliver accurate month‑end reporting, manage bank and clearing account reconciliations, and prepare VAT submissions to SARS.
• Coordinate year‑end audit deliverables and develop accounting policies and procedures.
• Identify and implement process improvements to enhance finance system efficiency and accuracy.

Required profile

• BCom degree with at least 5 years of relevant financial operations or banking experience.
• Minimum 3 years of people‑management experience.
• Proven experience in short‑term commercial insurance finance.
• Experience in process implementation and audit support.

Required skills

• SAP (or similar accounting system)
