Band 7 Ophthalmology Intravitreal Specialist Injector Nurse (Fixed‑term)

About the role

This fixed‑term Band 7 position supports the growing demand for intravitreal services within NHS Scotland. The successful candidate will lead the delivery of intravitreal injections, ensuring safe and efficient patient care while contributing to service development.

Key responsibilities

• Perform intravitreal injections independently following clinical protocols.
• Assess and prepare patients for the procedure, maintaining high standards of aseptic technique.
• Collaborate with ophthalmologists, nurses, and allied health professionals to optimise service flow.
• Document procedures accurately and contribute to audit and quality improvement activities.
• Provide training and mentorship to junior staff as needed.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current NHS Scotland registration.
• Demonstrated experience in ophthalmology nursing.
• Willingness to develop expertise in intravitreal injection services.
• Ability to work under service pressures and adapt to evolving clinical demands.
