AWS DevOps Engineer

About the role

Amidel is seeking an experienced AWS DevOps Engineer to design, build and maintain highly available, scalable and secure cloud environments for financial and enterprise clients.

Key responsibilities

• Design and build scalable infrastructure using AWS services and IaC tools such as CloudFormation and Terraform.
• Implement and manage CI/CD pipelines with AWS CodePipeline, Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions.
• Automate deployments and configurations using Python, Bash or PowerShell scripts.
• Manage containerized environments with Docker and orchestrators like ECS, EKS or Kubernetes.
• Monitor application performance and system health using CloudWatch, Prometheus, Grafana or Datadog.
• Collaborate with development and security teams to embed DevSecOps practices.
• Maintain backup, disaster recovery and high‑availability strategies for critical workloads.
• Use configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef or Puppet.
• Enforce tagging standards, cost‑optimization and governance across AWS accounts.
• Manage networking components (VPCs, subnets, security groups, route tables) and support compliance automation (ISO 27001, NIST, POPIA).

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years of experience in DevOps or cloud infrastructure engineering.
• At least 3 years working with AWS DevOps tooling and cloud automation.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related field.
• AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional (or working towards) preferred.

• Networking fundamentals: VPC, subnets, security groups, route tables, VPN, NAT, load balancers.
