Automotive Technician – Vehicle Diagnostics & Repairs

About the role

We are seeking a qualified Automotive Technician to join our workshop in Port Elizabeth. The role involves diagnosing, repairing, and servicing a wide range of vehicles using modern diagnostic tools. You will work closely with the service team to ensure high‑quality workmanship and customer satisfaction.

Key responsibilities

• Accurately diagnose mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using OEM diagnostic equipment.
• Perform routine servicing and repairs, including brakes, transmission, fuel, and drivetrain components.
• Complete all campaign and service requirements with a 100% success rate.
• Conduct quality control checks to eliminate service comebacks and verify vehicle safety before release.
• Manage job cards, record diagnostic information, and use in‑house systems such as Resolve.
• Adhere to franchise standards, aiming for an 85% Customer Satisfaction Index.
• Participate in ongoing technical training and mentor junior apprentices.

Required profile

• Relevant motor mechanic trade qualification (or N3 Mechanical Engineering).
• Red Seal certification preferred with at least 2 years post‑qualification experience in a franchise dealer environment.
• Valid Code 8 or Code 10 driver’s licence.
• Strong communication and customer‑service orientation.
• Ability to work under deadlines and maintain high standards of safety.

Required skills

• Proficiency with ODIS diagnostic software.
• Experience using ELSA Pro.
• Familiarity with VAS testing equipment.
• Ability to operate the Resolve workshop management system.
