Automation Engineer

About the role

Greenro Solutions is hiring a full-time Automation Engineer in Midrand. The engineer designs, programs, configures, commissions and maintains control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA) and selects, integrates and calibrates field instrumentation. The role also involves leading or taking part in FATs and SATs and preparing technical documentation for project delivery, handover and operations.

Key responsibilities

• Design, program, configure and commission control systems (PLC, DCS, SCADA)
• Select, integrate and calibrate field instrumentation
• Lead or take part in Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) and Site Acceptance Tests (SATs)
• Prepare technical documentation such as FDS, control philosophy, loop and wiring diagrams and O&M manuals

Required profile

• Grade 12; ND in Electrical Engineering (Electronics or Instrumentation) or Btech in Electrical Engineering (Electronics or Instrumentation) preferred
• ECSA candidate preferred
• 3-5 years of experience in industrial automation
• Proven experience designing, programming, configuring and commissioning PLC/DCS/SCADA systems (Schneider, Siemens, Allen Bradley)
• Experience designing PLC control panels, including connection and loop diagrams
• Hands-on experience calibrating and maintaining field instruments, and conducting FAT, SAT, commissioning and startup support
• Process industries experience (water, energy, manufacturing, infrastructure or mining) advantageous

Required skills

• PLC programming and knowledge of control and instrumentation design
• Commissioning of control and instrumentation systems (Schneider, Siemens, Allen Bradley)
• Proficiency in creating technical documentation: FDS, control philosophy, loop diagrams, wiring diagrams, O&M manuals
• Knowledge of motor starters
