Audit Manager – Professional Services Firm

About the role

We are seeking an ambitious Audit Manager to join a well‑established professional services firm that works with a diverse portfolio of entrepreneurial businesses, SMEs, and internationally connected organisations. This role offers broad exposure across industries and complex engagements, allowing you to develop into a well‑rounded audit leader.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and manage audit and independent review engagements from planning through finalisation.
• Review audit files, annual financial statements and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Provide technical guidance, mentorship and development support to audit staff and trainees.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted business advisor.
• Identify audit risks, control weaknesses and opportunities for process improvement.
• Oversee engagement budgets, timelines and resource allocation to ensure successful delivery.
• Ensure compliance with relevant auditing standards, accounting frameworks and firm methodologies.
• Collaborate with directors and senior leadership on client service delivery and strategic initiatives.
• Review complex accounting treatments and resolve technical audit matters.
• Drive quality assurance and continuous improvement across audit engagements.

Required profile

• Completed SAICA Articles with relevant post‑articles audit experience in a public practice environment.
• Proven experience managing audits within a professional services or audit firm.
• Demonstrated ability to lead teams and review the work of junior professionals.
• Excellent stakeholder management and client relationship‑building skills.
• Strong commercial awareness of SME business environments.
• Ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously while maintaining quality standards.
